Privacy
PocketPortal has no account, no servers of its own and no analytics. Your screen, taps, keys and files travel only between your own devices, inside your Tailscale network.

What the app stores on your Mac
The app keeps these in its folder on your Mac:
- The token that lets your phone connect.
- The date your free trial started.
- Your license key, once you enter it.
- The keys and phone addresses it uses to send you alerts.
What leaves your Mac
Outside your Tailscale network, the app makes these calls. None of them carries your screen, your typing or your files.
- License checks, to Lemon Squeezy. When you enter a key, the app sends the key and your Mac’s computer name, which Lemon Squeezy records with the activation. About once a week after that it sends the key and an ID for this activation. Choosing Deactivate License… sends the same two.
- Update checks, to this site. Once a day the app asks this site whether there’s a newer version. Like any web request, it shows your IP address and the app’s version to the host.
- Alerts. An alert sent while the phone page is closed goes through your phone’s push service (Apple’s, on an iPhone). It’s encrypted so only your phone can read it.
Your screen, typing and files travel over Tailscale, encrypted between your Mac and your phone. Tailscale is an app you install yourself, with its own privacy policy.
Your purchase
Lemon Squeezy handles the checkout and keeps your name, email, payment and order details under its own privacy policy. We can see your name, email and order, and the names of the Macs your key is active on, in the store’s dashboard, so we can answer questions and give refunds. We never see your full card number.
This site
This site runs on Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies, has no analytics or trackers, and serves its own fonts. Cloudflare handles the requests, so it sees the usual details of each one, such as your IP address.
The pairing page
Pairing opens a page on this site that connects your phone to your Mac. What it needs is in the part of the link after the #, which your browser doesn’t send to this site.
Mail to support is forwarded by Cloudflare to a Gmail inbox. It’s used only to answer you.
Removing your information
Delete the app and its folder, ~/Library/Application Support/Porthole (the app’s old name), and nothing of yours remains on the Mac. To ask us what we hold about you, or to delete it, email [email protected]. Some order records have to be kept for tax.
Changes
If this page changes, the new version goes here with a new date.
